Could a third world country win a world cup, whoaaaaaaa????
Food for thought:
Do you think that a third world country will ever win the world cup? Do third world countries have the resources to compete in a tournament like the world cup and if so, do you think we will ever witness a third world country let's say for argument sake, Jamaica make it to the ultimate world cup finals and win? Is this possible or not? I remember in 1998 world cup Jamaica did good, but against the power houses like Argentina we were demoralized and even recently, Trinidad and Tobago went to the world cup but was unable to get out of the group stages. Jamaica won a game, which in itself was great, but that is as far as it went. What would third world countries need to do in order to get to the level of the other football giants. Let me hear your thoughts on the matter. Would be a joy some day to see a third world country or an African/Asia country win the world cup for a change. I'm not sure if any has from my recollection, but if anyone has their history down pack, please let me know. What will it take for any of these countries to win this pretigious tournament? Let me hear your thoughts.

Re: Could a third world country win a world cup, whoaaaaaaa????
only thing close i could think of is Uruguay with two world cups to their name ... but south american i guess doesnt fit your criteria
Still they are a tiny tiny country and heres a little snippet from wikipedia.
Uruguay is one of the most successful national football teams in the world. They have won two FIFA World Cups, including the first ever World Cup in 1930 as hosts, beating Argentina 4-2 in the final. They won their second title in 1950, upsetting hosts Brazil 2-1 in the final match. They also won the Gold Medals in football at the Summer Olympics twice, in 1924 and 1928, before the creation of the World Cup. They have also won the Copa América fourteen times, tied with Argentina, for most in America. They also won the 1980 Mundialito, a tournament among former World Cup champions Uruguay hosted in 1980 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first World Cup. Their success is amplified by the fact that the nation has a very small population. Uruguay is the only country in the world to win a World Cup with a general population of under 4 million inhabitants. The second smallest country to have won the World Cup is Argentina with a total population of over 41 million people.
Anything is possible in football - if an african country can unearth raw talent and keep it together for 8 games or whatever it is then we will see it.
Ghana are a team who are more than capable of doing it i think ...
Ghana are a good team who are capable ....

i think they have the talent. ghana and senegal and the ivory coast are incredible teams. im on the africa bandwagon when it comes to the cup of nations and i think teams like these are a european coach away from success. organisation and experience are needed and with africa having a greater influence on the leagues in general i think more poverty stricken countries are finding that football can aid them in the journey to a better lifestyle financially. i think the players are tactically outwitted because african players have better stamina, better ajusted to most climates the tournaments are played in, very wellsupported by fans, and they have immense speed and skill. they just need the right manager for me.
