Hibs Hope Riordan Can Complete Celts' Nightmare

Post by WFT_BigTuna on Wed Oct 22, 2008 3:08 pm

Derek Riordan finally escaped from Celtic Park this summer, heading from whence he came - Hibernian's Easter Road HQ.

'Deek' was an outcast at Parkhead, frozen out by boss Gordon Strachan for both football and personal reasons.

Now, though, fellow Easter Road goal-getter Steven Fletcher has back new team-mate Riordan to come back to haunt Strachan and complete a miserable week for Celtic.

The Hoops were shrugged off 3-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening and Fletcher is keen to rub salt into the Bhoys' wounds.

Fletcher said of Riordan, whom he hopes will be fit enough to start: "It's a big game but hopefully Derek will score and show them what they're missing.

"He's a great talent and even though he is still short of match fitness, he's doing extra work to get back to his peak. That can only be good for the club."

Comparing form, he added: "After a hard midweek game in the Champions League, they won't be looking forward to facing us. We're on a good run lately."
