Adebayor: Milan or nothing Sunday 22 June, 2008
Arsenal are ready to release Emmanuel Adebayor for £25m, but while his club would prefer Barcelona, he only wants Milan.
Several
newspapers in Italy, England and Spain are reporting this story, as the
24-year-old does look as if he’s receiving the go-ahead from Arsene
Wenger to leave.
His wage demands allegedly prompted the decision, as he requested £80,000 a week to stay at the Emirates.
Although Arsenal are prepared to release Adebayor, his destination is still up in the air and the subject of another battle.
Barcelona have already flown in director Marc Ingla on Friday to hold negotiations and make a £22m offer.
The Gunners would prefer he go to Spain, but Tuttosport insists Adebayor will only accept a transfer to San Siro.
The
rapport between the clubs is not good after Mathieu Flamini turned down
a contract renewal to complete a free transfer to Milan last month.
But
the players’ demands are crucial in this type of move and so Arsenal
are willing to sell to the Rossoneri, but only if they can beat Barca’s
bid.
Tuttosport
claims that Adebayor sent an email to Wenger on Thursday asking for a
face-to-face meeting, copying it to acting managing director Ken Friar
and Milan general manager Adriano Galliani, but not to any Barcelona
figures.
Either
way it will be a good bit of business for Arsenal, who only signed the
Togo international from Monaco for £7m two years ago.
Adebayor flies in to London this weekend and is set for a meeting with Wenger on Tuesday at the latest.

DOMINO EFFECT

Adriano
Galliani talked about Adebayor and other names being linked to Milan.
"We'll have to see what happens in this ballet of strikers. Often a
domino effect happens and sometimes it doesn't." - THE DECLARATIONS -

MILAN - Here are the declarations made by Delegate Administrator Adriano Galliani to 'Studio Sport''s microphones:
"Adebayor? It depends on Arsenal. If Arsenal don't let him go,
Adebayor still has two years on his contract, but if they ask huge
amounts for him it's over. Otherwise it's not over, but nothing's for
sure yet. Morabito is right when he says that Milan are after Adebayor
and no one else at the moment, it's true, but that doesn't mean it
stays like that until september 1st, the last day of the transfer
window. But it remains to be seen what happens in this ballet of
strikers, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Adebayor, Drogba, how they will move
because sometimes there's a domino effect and sometimes there isn't.
I
think the fans should be grateful not to the fan Galliani, but to
President Berlusconi who, through his Fininvest company, continues
to pour money into this club. He's been doing that for 22 years and he
transformed a club who was on trial and relegated twice to Serie B in
the 80s, into the most title-winning club in the world."

Re: Emmanuel Adebayor wants to come to the red side of the San Siro
Who do you think arsenal would bring in to replace him ?
Surely they cant rely on van persie & walcott ... Eto'o could be a good swoop, maybe thats why they're keen on selling him to barcelona
